Privacy Policy

1) Introduction

Boolo is operated by Claio, based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. This policy explains what personal information we collect through the Boolo app and website, why we collect it, how we protect it, and what rights you have. Boolo is a dental staffing marketplace that connects dental clinics looking for temporary replacement professionals (hygienists, assistants, dentists) with qualified dental professionals looking for work. 2) Personal information

We collect information you provide directly: your name, email address, phone number, and mailing address (for professionals). Professionals also provide their professional license number (e.g., OHDQ), profile photo, work history, and qualifications. Clinics provide their clinic name, address, and practice details.

Through your use of the app, we also generate: shift data (shifts posted, accepted, completed), hours worked, earnings amounts, app usage data (screens visited, features used), device information (device type, OS version), and push notification tokens.

We do NOT collect: precise GPS or location data, browsing history outside Boolo, data from third-party advertising or tracking SDKs (we use none), social insurance numbers, or health information.

Optional permissions include: calendar access (to sync accepted shifts), camera and photo library (for profile photos), and push notifications (for shift opportunities and updates). All can be revoked in your device settings.

3) Usage

We collect and use your personal information to provide our service (creating accounts, matching professionals with shifts, facilitating bookings), to verify professional credentials as required by dental regulatory bodies in Quebec, to communicate with you (shift confirmations, reminders, service updates), to improve Boolo by understanding how the app is used, and to comply with the law (tax, employment, and professional licensing obligations). We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your information for advertising purposes.

4) Data Protection

Our database and authentication services are hosted by Supabase, with servers located in North America (United States and Canada). Data transmitted between your device and our servers is encrypted in transit using TLS. Data is encrypted at rest in our database. Authentication uses industry-standard security practices, including hashed passwords and secure session tokens.

When payment processing is activated, it will be handled by Stripe, a PCI-DSS compliant payment processor. Boolo will not store your full credit card or bank account numbers directly.

Because our infrastructure provider may store data on servers in the United States, your personal information may be transferred outside of Canada. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place, including contractual obligations requiring our service providers to protect your data to standards consistent with Canadian privacy law.

5) User Rights

Under PIPEDA (federal) and Quebec's Law 25, you have the right to: access a copy of the personal information we hold about you, correct inaccurate or incomplete information, delete your personal information (subject to legal retention requirements), withdraw consent for optional data processing (e.g., push notifications, calendar sync), receive your personal information in a portable format, request human review of any automated decision that affects you, and file a complaint with the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI) or the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC).

6) Data Sharing

Within Boolo, clinics can see professional profiles (name, photo, license number, qualifications, work history, ratings) of applicants. Professionals can see clinic information (name, address, shift details). Boolo staff can access your information for support, verification, and platform administration purposes.

We share information only with service providers who help us operate Boolo: Supabase (database hosting, authentication), Stripe (future payment processing), and Apple/Google (push notification delivery). We do not share your information with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties for their own purposes. We may disclose your information if required by law, court order, or regulatory request.

7) Tracking

In accordance with Quebec's Law 25, we are transparent about automated processing. Boolo includes an optional cascade automation feature that clinics can configure with three levels: auto-post shifts (when a staff absence is detected, Boolo can automatically create a shift posting), tiered notifications (shift invitations sent automatically to professionals in priority order — internal staff first, then preferred professionals, then the broader marketplace), and auto-accept applications (if enabled by the clinic, Boolo can automatically accept the highest-scoring qualified applicant based on match score, reliability, and qualifications — disabled by default).

All automation is opt-in, transparent, and overridable. You have the right to be informed when an automated decision is made about you, to request the reasons behind it, and to have it reviewed by a person. Contact privacy@boolo.ai to exercise this right.

8) Data Handling

Active accounts: we retain your information for as long as your account is active. Closed accounts: after you delete your account, we retain certain data (shift records, payment records) for up to 7 years as required by Canadian tax and business record-keeping laws. Professional license information is retained as long as needed for regulatory compliance. App usage data is aggregated and anonymized within 12 months of collection.

9) Privacy

Boolo is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, contact us at privacy@boolo.ai and we will delete it.

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. When we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by email. The "Last Updated" date at the top of this page will always reflect the most recent version.
